Stagnant ice features, including kames and kettles, eskers, and kame deltas, which as generally recognized, formed at stagnant ice margins, where standing and flowing meltwater penetrated these margins, commonly associated with a distinctive, classic “kame and kettle topography.” Stagnant ice margins were long lasting, with older stagnant ice margins in some cases and places persisting while active ice margins receded to lower and younger positions.
