As discussed above, the evidence taken from the White Mountain Morainic System  indicates that the formation of Ice Marginal Channels may be related to ice margin recession which warmed the terrain, and as well the basal ice related to  a subsequent readvance. Thus, as deglaciation  progressed, the ice sheet may have been a “cold-based” type in early times, becoming polythermal, especially in conjunction with an early readvance, and then finally “warm-based.” This topic, specifically warm versus cold versus polythermal, including for this last as “normal” top down as opposed to inverse, is believed to be very significant and important, and deserving much more study, especially in conjunction with meltwater.
